It is a new year, and it is time for a new Bible study! Starting January 6th, we are gathering in our community to study God’s Word together. We are digging into the Book of Hebrews with the study by Jen Wilkin named, “Better.” Studying God’s Word is one of the best new habits to develop! All you need is a Bible to join us! You can purchase at lifeway.com or at amazon.com. We will gather each week for a chat and have daily discussions in our Bible Study group.
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down kat the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
A Swipe against Biblical Illiteracy
We live in a busy world, and we have allowed others to tell us what the Bible says. This should not be! We are so blessed to live in a time when we have access to the Bible in so many ways. We can grab any translation we desire; we can listen to it being read to us, and we can even access it on our phones. Just a century ago, it was rare to own a copy, yet odds are, we have more than a few in our possession!
So, it is such a shame that our society struggles with Biblical Illiteracy. What is this? We do not know the Word! We tend to read the Bible a little bit here, a little bit from there: one verse here, another verse from there and we do not read it in context. We miss the real meaning, the richness of the redemption story. Therefore, I suggest studying whole books of the Bible at a time. It is necessary to read what the author originally meant to be understood by the original audience. This does not take away our applying the truth to our modern lives. It is solidifying the truth for our own lives.
Why the Letter to the Hebrews?
The Study of Hebrews is an examination of the Supremacy of Christ. It is a bird’s eye view into the magnificence of the One and Only Savior of the world which I pray you do not miss! We cordially invite you to join us! We would LOVE to have you!
