Dreams, the Stuff of Life

Life is funny. Just when I think I understand which way I’m headed, it changes. And when you are here on earth, living as an adult for any amount of time, you will find that change is the new  normal.  Even dreams, which is the stuff of life, changes.

When a girl is graduating from High School, one girl embraces her future whether it be college or a job with the desire to be all she can be while holding onto her belief in Christ while another runs off into life believing “that they can do whatever they want because they are liberated and free, not realizing choices always brings results whether good or bad.”

We live a little. We change a little. As we grow and change, our dreams grow and dream with us. When I was dating my beloved, we had dreams of careers, names of children, where we would live and of course, how happy we would be. And, some of those dreams came true. And, yes, even though as life would have it, even with hard ships and trials, we are happy. Yet, my dreams of being a child Psychologist with an office in a Victorian home so I could keep my children at home changed into being a full-time at home mother. My beloved was going to be a business whiz right out of college. Even though our dreams ended up with a different result, dreams are worth having. See, if I had gotten exactly what I dreamed for, I would have missed the life I do have.

Dreams can be unrealistic, too big or out of reach yet, we should still dream them! Dreams are the stuff of life and they are used to mold our paths. Just as I had my dreams as a young wife, it changed into what needed to be and ended up much better that I could have dreamed of.

Even still, we need to have dreams! He places dreams in our hearts. We lose our dreams when we allow the mistakes of our past, our sins of our past to overwhelm our hearts. When we repent of sins, we are free. 1 John 1:9 clearly states,

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So why do we allow our past to overtake our future?  When we live in a place of regret instead of grace, we are hindered rather than free.  When we listen to the voice of condemnation, we restrict our future. Repent and accept His forgiveness! Rise up and allow yourself to dream again!
