Planners and Goals
It is that time again! It is time to set goals and new words for the new year! I get so excited about this! I’m not sure why but, I tend to be a bit of a nerd 🙂
OK, I have a serious planner addiction! And I am not the only one. Have you checked out youtube or Pinterest lately? You could get lost in a search for planners, planner set up or layouts! I have used a planner of some sort for almost 30 years. They have grown and changed over the years. What was very business-like in the past is now rather creative. It has a ‘scrapbooking’ feel to it now. It’s quite fun!
My favorite discoveries are the stickers and planner pages from PaperandGlam by Lisamarie Landreth. I got hooked on her stickers by watching her on her youtube channel. They are fun and practical and even girly. There are a lot of options out there and reasonably priced. I recommend shopping on etsy.com.
Goals and New Beginnings
I, for one, enjoy this time of the year because I appreciate new beginnings. This year, I am using several planners, all being Filofaxes, specifically, 2 A5 Malden’s (one purple and one is a mint colored) and a turquoise A5 Domino. One is for work, one is my creative life planner, and the Domino is my writer’s planner. I have thought of using a planner for memory keeping which I would use another Domino which is red. Here’s an example of what I am describing! Paper and Glam Memory Keeping I would use the Paper, and Glam vertical planner inserts in my Red Domino.
With all this said, I am one who heeds the verse, Psalms 90:12 which reads,
So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom. — Ps 90:12
He makes the plans
The older I get, the truth that life is short is more real to me. It is my nature to get lost in the business of life and sometimes I miss out on what’s important. Without a plan or goal, life can get, well, messy. Life is precious and a gift. I do not want to take for granted what He has graciously given me by letting time slip away. Proverbs is filled with wise advice on guarding our time and not wasting that which is precious. So, I desire to set goals which are God-honoring, glorifying to God and full of wisdom.
I also find wisdom in focusing on a keyword and key verse for each year. I use this process to refine my thoughts, after a lot of prayers. What also is important to remember is that ultimately, I can make plans yet He is the One Who is in control. The phrase, “Man makes plans and God laughs” comes to mind 🙂 So, although, I plan my world, I am learning to trust Him, even more, for the plans that He has made for me.
So, 2019 is here and I’m learning to rest in the knowledge, He holds my world so I can live in my ‘planner love’.
