We need each other! Women need other women! Today is an exciting time to live. We have access to countless opportunities for schooling and careers. If we can dream it, we can achieve it! The limitations that we struggled with in the past are no longer problems.  It is an excellent time to be alive. So why do we find ourselves in competition with others?

We are guilty of judging our worth by comparing ourselves with the careers, choices, clothes, and circumstances of others. Each one of us has fallen into this trap from time to time and its crippling.  Jesus warned to manage our logs in our eyes before we worry about the speck in another person’s eye (Matt. 7:3). It was not only for the benefit of those feeling judged but also for those of us who are standing in judgment.

We need each other!

We need to be in friendship with other women. There are strength and wisdom when women gather together in unity.  Psalm 133:1 states,  “Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!” (ESV)  It is not only a great witness to the world of what it is to be a Christ-follower but, it brings good things to those we work alongside.   The favor of God follows those who walk in His purpose and walks in grace. Jesus prayed that His followers would be one.

He prayed,  “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” (John 17:20-23, ESV)

In such a time when there are terrible division and anger, what would happen if we came together as a unified group of women who worked with excellence?  Instead of competing, we looked for ways to build others up and empowered them to success.  Women have struggled to gain recognition, openings were scarce and hard to come by, and we lose traction when we hinder others.  Empowering others is not only beneficial to our circle of influence, but it can also lead to growing prosperity and success far beyond our reach.

Unity breeds community life. It encourages growth and loyalty. Working from a position of unified goals instead of self-ambition serves the whole with countless benefits.  If a Christian is involved, it should display excellence. We are commanded to do all things as if unto the Lord, right? This way of living would permeate throughout our lives and affect all aspect of our life.

Women are strong, wise and industrious. When we lock together, we can change the world!
