When Trouble Comes, We Can Find Peace

If we are looking for peace in this crazy world, we will be disappointed.

Looking for peace?

Trust in the Lord; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him and He will act.

Psalm 37:3-5, ESV

We are living in interesting days. If we seek our guidance from the cable news networks, we sure will be filled with fear and anger. Or, if we seek wisdom and information from social media networks, odds are, it’s fake. How do we find truth? Where can we turn to find peace? Only by looking up and seeking the LORD first.

The Solution

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:17–18, NASB

Instead of looking around us, turning on the news or social media, our peace comes from turning our eyes on the LORD. I am not encouraging anyone to stick our heads in the sand and ignore everything, that is ignorance which doesn’t lead to peace of mind. I am encouraging seeking the things above where our help comes from. The simple truth is, we become like Whom we behold. Jesus is our Prince of Peace. He is our Shalom. He never promised us a life without troubles, He promised He would be with us through it all.

Jesus brings true and lasting peace

Jesus doesn’t offer a feel good, temporary peace. He gives lasting shalom. True peace comes in the form of truth which Jesus supplies. In order to gain this peace, we must be in relationship with Him. Do you know Jesus? Here’s how!

How to have a relationship with the Prince of Peace

  1. We need to admit we are sinners. We aren’t perfect, we all need forgiveness. Admitting this need for forgiveness is the first step.
  2. Next, confess our sins, confess that He died for our sins, paid the price for our sins, and rose again as LORD!
  3. Finally, ask Jesus into your heart as your LORD and Savior! In doing so, He gives you eternal life and everlasting peace!
