Why it’s Important to be a Word Nerd

Word Nerd

It’s Simple. We must be a Word Nerd.

Do you feel like something is missing? Do you find there a struggle when you try to sit down and have a time of prayer and study of the Word? You are not alone!  If we are honest with ourselves, we would all admit to struggling with it from time to time. But, if we want to live our lives to matter, this must be our foundation.  To know God and be known by Him. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” — Pr 9:10

What is a Word Nerd?

What are some characteristics of being a Word nerd, you may ask?  Does this include being a ‘Bible Thumper”? Isn’t being a Word Nerd a person who is judgemental, legalistic and a ‘stick in the mud”?  Most definitely not! Jesus did not call us to be ‘holier than thou”, walking around with any thought of being better than anyone else. He did not call us to be like the Pharisees; Jesus called us to be like Him. A change will happen once we start reading the Word with the purpose of knowing Him, not just for head knowledge. Our lives will be transformed. We will have a heart change. One thing is clear; we always become like what we behold.

We all want to be women of strength and wisdom.  The path is found in God’s Word. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. “— 2 Ti 3:16-17

I find it fascinating what happens when we pick up our Bibles and decide to get on our knees in prayer. It ceases to be a chore and becomes our desire.  The Word is, to quote Corrie Ten Boom, our refuge and secret place. His Word is our refuge. We become enthralled with the story of redemption.  Reading the Bible leaves an indelible mark on our souls. Our lives start to imitate what we focus on.

All it takes is

an open heart, your willingness and your time.
